Nature-Based Counselling

A walk in nature, walks the soul back home.

Mary Davis

Nature-based therapy, also known as walk-and-talk therapy, is a practice that promotes healing, reflection, and growth by being in nature. At Map Psychology Solutions, we offer nature-based therapy in the green spaces near our office in the Beltline neighborhood of Calgary, AB.

Spending time in nature is essential for our health and well-being. Research shows that being in nature can reduce mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and stress. It has also been linked to a significant decrease in medical issues such as high blood pressure and migraines. Incorporating nature into therapy can help you slow down, reflect, and connect more deeply with yourself, the environment, and others.

After a walk-and-talk session, most clients report feeling more grounded, calm, and peaceful. This service is available for ongoing clients (both couples and individuals) who have had at least one initial session at our office.

Our walk-n-talk counselling includes:

  • Building deeper connections to yourself, surroundings & others
  • Favourite sit spot exercise
  • Growing gratitude
  • Noticing nature metaphors
  • Outdoor mindfulness
